Abstract
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is an emergency condition that occurs when the lining of a coronary artery begins to tear. This often creates a blind pouch, or false lumen, in which blood collects then coagulates, forming a clot or hematoma. This intracoronary hematoma may slow or even block blood flow to the heart, causing a heart attack, heart arrhythmia, or sudden death.
