In Memoriam: Jerry Yee, M.D.

Jerry Yee, M.D., division head of Nephrology and Hypertension in the Henry Ford Medical Group and medical director for Greenfield Health Systems for the past 25 years, passed away unexpectedly in June 2022. Dr. Yee was internationally recognized for his expertise in nephrology and actively involved in leadership and academic activities with the National Kidney Foundation and American Society of Nephrology. In addition, he served on numerous editorial boards and achieved a long list of honors and awards for his outstanding service and excellence in academics and clinical care.

“Jerry has been a mentor to many fellows and junior faculty over the years and his passion for science and medicine was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him,” said Eric Scher, M.D., Chair of the Department of Medicine. Dr. Yee’s family shared that “his colleagues, friends, and family benefitted from his incredible intellect, keen wit and sense of humor, but most importantly, his patients experienced the compassion he felt for them.”
