Abstract
The need for closure after endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is dependent on the location and technique of resection. EMR in the esophagus generally does not require closure unless there is a complication such as perforation or bleeding. Hot EMR generally requires closure to decrease the risk of delayed bleeding, especially in the duodenum and right colon. Closure devices include through-the-scope clips, over-the-scope clips, and various endoscopic suturing platforms. The choice of closure device and technique is dependent on the location and expertise of the endoscopist.
