Description
The UL Research Institutes is an independent safety science research organization that conducts research to confront emerging risks that have real-world implications for safety, security, and sustainability. Improving public health and expanding experiential STEM learning opportunities are critical to the success of ULRI’s mission. As research partners, the Library & Researcher Information Services (LRIS) team at ULRI plays a central role in promoting open and equitable access to ULRI’s research outputs, including published information and data. In this role, LRIS led the identification and implementation of a repository platform and is currently engaged in repository management and content recruitment. Our aim is that the repository helps to amplify the impact of ULRI by harnessing persistent identifiers (PIDs), enhance the discoverability of research by ULRI via linked data, and supports our overall effort to establish an interoperable ecosystem of publicly discoverable and accessible research by ULRI. In this lightning talk, we will discuss the needs and use cases for the repository expressed by researchers and communications professionals at ULRI. We will share our vision for how the repository supports ULRI’s mission, creates more unified access to ULRI’s research, enables impact tracking, and amplifies discovery of and access to research focused on public health research and STEM education.
