Description
Michigan State University College of Nursing- Detroit (MSUCON) is located in the heart of the city and hosts a cohort of Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) students, who complete their second degree in nursing in 15 months. This curriculum mirrors that of the East Lansing site. Simulation-based learning plays an important part of the nursing program. An integral part of these experiences are Standardized Patients (SPs). A SP is an individual trained to portray a patient scenario, for the instruction, assessment, or practice of communication and/or examining skills of a healthcare provider. SPs provide a safe and supportive learning environment. SPs are community members from the Metro Detroit Area- they also support educational activities for MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.
